Highly recommended

“Highly recommended. I did the DS and CCTV courses within two weeks of each other. Both the tutors were engaging and very experienced and knowledgeable in their field. Despite both courses being relatively short, I feel they pack in a lot of material. There are also lots of practical activities that help prepare you for front line security work. Once again, I high recommend training with Get Licensed!”

“I have been working in security for 30 years starting with 10 years as a full time door supervisor and then 20 years in house NHS security officer in a busy city centre hospital with a war zone called A&E Since leaving I needed to get my SIA . This course is really good and it’s far from an attend course you need to apply yourself and it will give you the grounding to be a first class operative to start a career and progress in security. Great trainer in Dave Watts a first class instructor and man. This course is first class and Get Licensed make booking, learning a great experience”

A Door Supervisor is a licensed security professional trained to work in venues that serve alcohol, such as nightclubs, bars, and events. They also work in retail stores, corporate buildings, and festivals. In contrast, a Security Guard cannot work in licensed venues and is typically stationed in shopping centres, offices, and warehouses.

The exam includes multiple-choice questions and practical assessments. With proper preparation and course attendance, most candidates pass on their first attempt. Get Licensed also offers free exam retakes if needed.

Yes. While the term 'Bouncer' is commonly used, a Door Supervisor is the legal, SIA-recognised term. Bouncers often refer to unlicensed security staff, whereas Door Supervisors are fully trained and licensed professionals.

No, being muscular is not a requirement for becoming a door supervisor. Security work is about awareness, communication, and conflict resolution rather than physical strength. Training in de-escalation, conflict resolution, and situational awareness is more valuable than sheer size.

Yes, being a door supervisor is more about awareness, strategy, and training than height. Many professional security officers rely on defensive tactics and intelligence-based security strategies rather than physical intimidation.

Conflict management is the ability to prevent, handle, and resolve disputes using negotiation, de-escalation, and sometimes controlled physical intervention when required.

Yes, the training includes a module on conflict management in the private security industry, covering techniques for identifying conflict, de-escalation strategies, and tips for recognising risks.

Maintain a safe distance, use a firm but calm voice, and avoid physical confrontation if possible. Always follow proper security procedures and call for backup if needed. Our door supervisor training covers a module on physical intervention, including how to act in situations where you need to physically intervene and de-escalate situations.

While you don’t need extreme fitness, having basic endurance, agility, and the ability to stay alert for long shifts is beneficial. Physical intervention training may be required for certain door supervision roles.

Door supervisor salaries vary based on experience, location, and role. In the UK, the average pay ranges from £11 to £23 per hour for security guard and door supervisor roles, with higher wages for specialised roles like close protection officers (£50 to £100 per hour).
