Unfortunately, there are rare occasions when a security professional will risk his or her own life for the safety of others. When such an event happens, it shatters lives.

Tudor Simionov, a 33-year-old security guard originally from Romania, had worked on the night of New Year’s Eve at an exclusive party held at Fountain House, a 12.5 million town house situated in Park Lane, London.

His death had occurred during the first six hours of the new year and he hadn’t even meant to work, for he was filling in for a colleague.

Ill-fated and tragically unlucky, Mr Simionov and his colleagues were viciously attacked by a group of men trying to gain entry, and when they were refused, a series of brutal stabbings took place. The attack resulted in Mr Simionov’s death and left two of his colleagues, aged 29 and 37 severely injured.

It is said that Mr Simionov died at the scene at around 5.30 am after the emergency services were called having answered reports of a disturbance.

Following the incident, a 26-year-old suspect has been arrested and is currently being held in custody at a police station in central London.

According to Chief Inspector Andy Partridge, he said: “This shocking attack has left one man dead and three others with significant injuries. The fact that this takes place during the New Year celebrations has rightly captured a lot of attention.”

Mr Simionov’s untimely death has also left his girlfriend, Madalina Anghel, highly distraught:

“He was a really good man. We were happily and excitedly talking about having children together,” she told the Evening Standard.

While an incident like this is a terrible thing, it’s worth considering the heroic efforts made by the security staff, who prevented further potential danger.
