Licence Suspension and Reapplication

Q1: My licence got suspended 2 years ago, can I reapply or do I need to the course again? 

Answer: Only SIA can determine whether you are eligible or not. Also, your reason behind the suspension of your licence will decide the outcome. We would like you to contact SIA to determine whether you need to take the Top-up course or you are required to do the entire course again.

Upgrading to a Door Supervisor Licence

Q2: Hi, My security guard licence will expire in Jan 2024 can I change/up-skill to a door supervisor licence? I have a valid First aid cert. What would I need to do? the information on the web is a bit confusing I know all about changing a Door supervisor down to a security guard but not the other way round. thanks in advance. 

Answer: Certainly! Upgrading your existing security licence to a door supervisor licence is quite straightforward and uncomplicated. However, it is crucial to understand that if your aim is to upgrade your Security Guard Licence to a Door Supervisor’s Licence, it’s mandatory to complete the full Door Supervisor course. Simply doing the Top-Up Door Supervisors course will not be enough. The process, although simple, requires a commitment to complete the required course to ensure you are sufficiently prepared and qualified for the role of a Door Supervisor.

Licence Suspension and Police Records

Q3: Hello, I am the door supervisor licence holder, but a few months ago I was arrested and investigated by the police for a false allegation of harassment. SIA authority suspended my licence. But now the police have released me with no further action taken. I have uploaded my letter no other action taken later to my sia portal. But now sia saying they are awaiting for further details from police. But police did not give information to anyone. Without request information and haven’t received any request from police regarding me please elaborate it clearly what I have to do now 6months have passed.

Online CCTV Course Availability

Q4: I like the CCTV course. But can I do the course online?

Answer: There is a virtual CCTV course but you have to come to class to take your exam. CCTV course is a 3-day course, 2-day classes will be held virtually and on the 3rd day you shall come for your exam. 

How to get a Door Supervisor Licence

Q5: I am interested in doing the SIA door supervisor course.

Top-Up Training for Licence Renewal

Q8: If I have a standard Security Licence, would I only need to do the one-day Top-up training? Is there a requirement for a top-up if you are renewing a CCTV licence?

Answer: Yes, a one-day Security Guard Top-up training is required to renew your Security Guard licence; however, there is no Top-up course to renew your CCTV licence.

Becoming a CCTV Operator

Q9: How can I be a CCTV operator how do I get to register and do the course and how much does it cost?
