To become a Door Supervisor course, you need an SIA Door supervisor licence. You will need to take Door Supervisior training course to apply for the licence. It is also mandatory to have a first aid qualification before you start your training course.

From April 1st this course will become a 6 day course instead of a 4 day course. In addition, you must have a first aid qualification before you can take the training. This should be an Emergency First Aid at work certificate or higher. Please find more information on the government website or in our helpful blog post.

The need for quality training of Closed Circuit Television (Public Space Surveillance) Operatives has long been recognised. Too often a highly sophisticated system has been carefully planned, expertly installed and commissioned with little or no thought given to the training of those people responsible for its use. This three-day course is designed to assist companies in the provision of basic job training that meets the SIA requirements for licensing. Delegates will gain an in-depth understanding of the current legislation pertinent to their work and invaluable knowledge relating to the purpose and principles of CCTV surveillance systems.

To work as a SIA Close Protection Operative (CPO) or Bodyguard (BG) in the UK you will need to have an SIA licence issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

One of the requirements of the SIA licence is that you hold a recognised qualification, and the Level 3 Close Protection Operative meets the requirement for the SIA Licence.

The SIA Close Protection course is run over fourteen days and has 140 hours of tuition and 1.5 hours of exams. The exams consist of one multiple-choice paper.

A Close Protection licence is required when guarding one or more individuals against assault or against injuries that might be suffered in consequence of the unlawful conduct of others. This applies if your services are supplied for the purposes of or in connection with any contract to a consumer.

New entrants to the security industry and those who are returning to it having previously worked prior to the introduction of SIA licensing in 2004. Everyone will need to undertake the SIA training to be able to apply for the SIA licence.

To apply for a personal licence to sell alcohol, you must hold an alcohol licensing qualification, for example, a level 2 award for personal licence holders.

A designated premises supervisor (DPS) is the official title of a personal licence holder of a venue. A DPS does not need to be at the venue at all times but must be easy to contact by licensing authorities and staff.

To work as a SIA Door Supervisor or SIA Security Guard in the UK you will need to have an SIA licence issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

No, this course is not a legal requirement, but it will enhance your qualifications within the security sector

The Basic Handcuff course is an interactive course where learners are assessed on the course. There are no exams for this course. Certificates will be given once the tutor is satisfied with each students ability to successfully demonstrate his/her knowledge of handcuff training.

Yes, this course is very good for anyone working as Doormen or Security Guards. The Basic Handcuff course teaches you the skills on how to successfully and safely apprehend someone.

After completing a final written and practical assessment successful candidates receive an HSE approved certificate valid for three years.
This course is legally compliant with the current Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981. Examples: ‘This British Standard applies equally to all individuals in relevant employment, including full?time and part-time employees, sole traders, partnerships, temporary and permanent employees, and to all levels of seniority, including directors. Who or what would dictate 5 or 10 year screening?

British Standard requirements for individual services dictate the screening requirements:

• BS 7499 for Security Guarding - requires 5 year screening
• BS PD 6662 Alarm Installation - requires 5 year screening
• BS 7872 Cash and Valuables in Transit - requires 10 year screening
• BS 5979 Alarm Receiving Centre - requires 5 year screening
• BS 7984 Keyholding and Response - requires 5 year screening

There can also be contractual requirements from your customers that would require an ex tension to the normal screening period.

It is important you are aware of the role the person is being screened for so you can apply the correct screening period for that role.

Following an interview and before limited screening the following must be completed as a
minimum:

• Establish a screening file
• Information provided e.g. application form
• Confirmation of identity and address

The BS7858 Standard is the code of practice released by BSI (British Standards Institution) which details best practices and guidelines for the security screening of individuals employed within a security environment. It is also used where security screening is in the best interests of the public.
