We make having a White CSCS Academically Qualified Person Card a simple, stress-free process ✅
If you have an academic qualification related to construction or civil engineering, being certified as a CSCS Academically Qualified Person can open many doors for you in the construction industry. To increase your employability and demonstrate your commitment to safe work practices, we highly recommend completing a Green CSCS Labourer card course. The course covers essential health and safety topics relevant to the construction industry, including hazard recognition, manual handling, and working at height, and is an excellent way to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of health and safety on a construction site.
This card is only available to certain graduates and degree or certificate holders. You will have to provide proof of your degree or certification when applying. Specifically, your degree or other certification must be in building and construction, civil engineering, any CIOB or NEBOSH courses, electrical or electronic engineering, or in a relevant type of property services.
You can apply for the White CSCS Academically Qualified Person Card over the phone by directly calling the Construction Skills Certification Scheme on 0344 99 44 777. You will need to email evidence of your qualifications to cscs@citb.co.uk prior to calling.
CSCS Cards are issued as part of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme. The scheme aims to increase safety on construction sites and to ensure that those working in the construction industry have the necessary health and safety knowledge. Having a card contributes towards the overall safety and standard of a construction site.
The CSCS Card is not a legal requirement, but is highly recommended, as many contractors only employ those that have the card. Some construction projects may also have certain conditions regarding CSCS Cards, meaning you will need the card to work at certain sites.
The application cost to obtain a CSCS card is £30. However, there are also other costs for external tests or courses which increase the price.
Who pays for your CSCS Card depends on the agreement that you have with your employer. Some employers will pay for their staff to obtain a CSCS Card, others will expect the employee to pay for it themselves.
It takes up to 5 working days for your CSCS card to arrive. You will need to contact CSCS directly and apply for it. Make sure that you have your assessment certificate handy, as this will be required when you apply.
This card is valid for five years and can be renewed.
Many Academically Qualified Person cardholders choose to move into higher management levels, and choose to seek a Black (Manager) CSCS Card to support that.
